Our brain needs care and maintenance like other body parts. More importantly, it controls all other organs of our body. This makes the brain the most important organ of all.
Here are 5 ways that you can practice to boost your memory & mental health.
You can drink alcohol, but in moderation
Did you know that heavy drinkers are more likely to develop memory problems and dementia? If you are a man, you should never consume more than 2 drinks per day. For women, limit yourself to one drink a day. Anything beyond that is harmful to your brain.
Get rid of cigarettes
If you are a regular smoker, you are automatically at risk for dementia and Alzheimer's disease, in which these two conditions are diseases of the brain. You also take the risk of cerebrovascular accidents, if you smoke.
Stress is a factor
When you have too much stress, your body releases enzymes and hormones that can affect your judgment and memory.
In fact, if your body releases these enzymes and hormones, it is good because your body can perform better. But if they are excessive (because of too much stress), these enzymes and hormones do more damage instead.
Protect your head
People who are at risk are those involved in extreme sports where head injuries are common. You must protect your head at all times because trauma to the head can cause you to have Alzheimer's disease.
Often people do not rest enough. They are pushing to do more work and get some rest. The standard rule, everyone has to get at least 8 hours of sleep each day. If you are sleep deprived, your memory can be adversely affected when you get older.
